Senior Associate Therapist
JENN HOURANI
I resist societal messages that tell us how to act, think, look and feel.

Hello, and welcome! My name is Jenn, and I’m happy to see you here, as you consider starting or restarting therapy. I am a Senior Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #142135) supervised by Mona Klausing, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA #101243).

Raised by an immigrant single parent in California, I spent most of my childhood making art, exploring nature, and hearing my relatives’ stories about their homeland, Lebanon. Since then, I’ve experienced how memory, landscape, and culture shape who we are. As an adult, I worked in higher education and the tech industry before pursuing my passion as a therapist. I completed my graduate work at the University of San Diego, and trained at a narrative therapy community clinic serving diverse client populations.

I believe that people are the authors of their own lives. I enjoy questioning “the way things are”, helping people resist outside influences that tell us how to act, think, look, and feel.  I see human beings as inherently capable, creative, and worthy of love. I support everyone’s freedom to live an authentic, meaningful life.

In my sessions, I strive to build a kind, creative, and transparent relationship. While my background is in narrative therapy, I also integrate expressive arts, parts work, and neuroscience. Lastly, I emphasize practices that honor the wisdom of the body. For example, I offer outdoor/walking therapy sessions for suitable clients located in San Diego. I am also currently training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) for reprocessing trauma, and I enjoy teaching various practices for nervous system regulation that can help ground the body.

I specialize in working with first-generation Americans, millennials, Gen Z, corporate adults, and couples in “threshold moments”, or moments of major change. Some of my most common client issues include life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, identity, ADHD, and healing childhood wounds.

If you’d like to learn more, please reach out to me for a free 30-minute consult call. My fees are $80-125 per 45-minute session, based on household income. I can also accept Aetna, Cigna, and United/Optum insurance, under my supervisor’s license.

‘In collaborating with my clients, I believe that people

are inherently capable and resourced.’
